Policing Reform Indigent Defense Reform |
We seek to reform the New Orleans Criminal Justice System to:
- Ensure that the indigent defender system is politically independent and is adequately and equitably funded so all clients receive an effective lawyer
- Ensure that the courts are fair, efficient and effective and respect the human dignity of victims, defendants and their families
- Ensure that the indigent defender system operates as a model defender system, based on best practices and the American Bar Association’s Ten Principles of a Public Defense Delivery System
- Ensure that the courts are fair, efficient, and effective
- Ensure that the court system prioritizes and supports alternatives to incarceration
